[Trad Gnu] Mysterious phrase (in the small and in the large) in install-fest-devil.html

Hello Richard,

We are translating install-fest-devil into French, and cannot quite
figure out what this sentence means:

"They would have the chance to reflect afterwards on the situation that
their flawed computers have put them in, and about how to change that
situation, in the small and in the large."

I only found 3 or 4 articles that use this phrase, but they deal with
programming or mathematical stuff.

We made a wild guess from the context:

* "in the small" = the specific issues that face individual users of
flawed computers;
* "in the large" = general problems that face all users of flawed
computers (for instance: should I stop buying nonfree hardware?)

We are thinking ot this translation:
... faire évoluer cette situation, sur le plan particulier et le plan
général.

Are we on the right track?
